Mathieu Névéol
Violin, Composition
A graduate of Indiana University Bloomington in the United States, Mathieu Névéol is a violinist, composer, watercolorist, and luthier.
In France, he began studying the violin with Robert Papavrami at the age of 7, and later earned a gold medal with unanimous distinction and jury honors from the Bordeaux Conservatory (CNR), in the classes of Roland Daugareil and Vladimir Nemtanu.
In 2000, he was awarded First Prize at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon (CNSMD), studying under Roland Daugareil. He also earned a “Performer Diploma” in the violin class of the renowned pedagogue Mauricio Fuks, and studied violin making with Tom Sparks and Dereck Coons.
As a member of the Maison des Artistes, Mathieu Névéol creates his "Imaginary watercolors", a unique painting style that lies between Chinese ink wash painting and Japanese Sumi-e.
For over 20 years, he has also dedicated himself to instrument making (Lutherie NÉVÉOL & Fils), reviving the expertise of a family varnish recipe from Cremona.
Passionate about Central European music, Mathieu Névéol is a founding member of the ensemble NOMAD lib’ (Névéol Original Music, Arts & Design). As the group’s composer and arranger, he has performed extensively in concert and produced several albums under the labels Hortus, Codaex, and later DOM distribution.
Beyond his role as concertmaster at the Saint-Étienne Opera Orchestra since 2019, he also co-founded the NEVEOL-LIN duo with flutist and pianist Shu-Torng Lin.

Shu-Torng Lin
Flute, Piano
Originally from Taiwan, Shu-Torng Lin found her calling in classical music from an early age. She began learning music at the age of 5 with Mrs. Long-Chen CHANG, starting with the piano, and discovered the flute at the age of 9 with Mrs. Hsiu-Fen LU and Mrs. Hsiao-Pei MA.
She gave her first recital on both the piano and the flute at the age of 12.
Remarked by Christian Cheret, Shu-Torng Lin graduated from the Paris Conservatory (CRR) in the class of Vincent Lucas.
As first prize of both the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (CNSMD) and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon (CNSMD), she studied with Philippe Bernold, Julien Beaudiment, Gilles Cottin, José-Daniel Castellon, Claude Lefebvre, and Emmanuelle Réville in Lyon, as well as piccolo with Pierre Dumail.
In 2013, Shu-Torng Lin won the Kuhlau International Flute Competition in Germany and dedicated herself to teaching both flute and piano.
Appointed Flute Solo and Piccolo Solo at the Saint-Étienne Opera Orchestra in 2018, Shu-Torng Lin is regularly invited to perform with the Lyon Opera Orchestra, Lyon Chamber Orchestra, Shanghai Opera Orchestra, Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, Marseille Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in Australia, working with prestigious conductors and soloists such as Charles Dutoit, Martha Argerich, Alondra de la Parra, Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, and more.
Since 2023, Shu-Torng Lin has been performing in concert with the NOMAD lib' ensemble and has invested herself in the NEVEOL-LIN duo, which she co-founded with Mathieu Névéol.
